Community Celebrates Navratri While Supporting Temple Building Project
During the auspicious nine nights of Navratri this October, Some of Oxford's Hindu families opened their homes for prayer gatherings, combining spiritual devotion with fundraising efforts for our upcoming temple. Community members sang bhajans, shared prasad, and performed pujas in their homes.
These home-based celebrations not only honoured the divine feminine energy of Maa Durga but also strengthened our community bonds and demonstrated the pressing need for a dedicated temple space in Oxford. The generous donations collected during these gatherings will directly support our temple building project, bringing us one step closer to having our own sacred space for future festivals and daily worship.
One of the event hosts Kanta Gopal said: "Celebrating in our homes reminds us of how meaningful it will be to soon have a temple where we can all come together as one community. Hopefully we will be able to celebrate Navratri next year in our new mandir".
