This cookie policy explains how Oxford Hindu Temple and Community Centre Project uses cookies and similar technologies on oxfordhindutemple.org. It should be read alongside our Privacy policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels used by embedded content or analytics tools.
Your choices
When you first visit the site, we show a cookie banner. You can accept all cookies or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie preferences in the website footer.
Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under ohtccp_cookie_consent_v1. This remembers your preference so we do not ask every time you visit.
How we use cookies
Strictly necessary
These are needed for the website to function — for example, to submit forms securely and protect our services from abuse. We do not need your consent for strictly necessary cookies.
- Firebase / Firestore — when you submit forms such as volunteer registration or event sign-ups, technical data may be sent to Google Firebase to store your submission securely.
- Cookie consent — we store your cookie preference locally so the banner does not reappear unnecessarily.
Analytics (requires consent)
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Microsoft Clarity (provided by Microsoft) to see how visitors use the site — for example which pages are viewed — so we can improve it. It is not loaded if you reject non-essential cookies.
For more about how Microsoft handles this data, see Microsoft's privacy statement.
Embedded content (may set cookies)
Some pages include embedded content from third parties. If you interact with that content, the third party may set cookies:
- YouTube — video players on pages such as milestone and live-stream content.
- Google Maps — the map on our How to get here page.
These embeds may load before you interact with them. We recommend reviewing Google's privacy policy if you use embedded maps or videos.
Donations and external links
When you follow links to JustGiving, WhatsApp, or Facebook, those sites may set their own cookies. We do not control cookies on external websites.
Managing cookies
You can change your analytics preference using Cookie preferences in the footer, or control cookies through your browser settings — for example, to block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may affect how some parts of the website work, including form submissions.
For more about cookies and your choices, visit aboutcookies.org or the ICO guidance on cookies.
