The Prana Prathaishta consecrated Oxford Hindu Mandir—installing the divine presence in the deities and making our building a living temple for daily worship.

Over several days, priests led sacred Vedic rituals culminating in a public ceremony on Saturday 23 May 2026. Devotees from Oxfordshire and beyond gathered at Marsh Lane as the Mandir was spiritually awakened—a milestone decades in the making for Oxford's Hindu community and open to all who wished to share in the blessings of the day.

  • Consecration of the deities and establishment of the Mandir for worship
  • Public ceremony from 13:00 on Saturday 23 May 2026

Grand Opening

Sunday, 21 June 2026

10:00 to 16:00 (UK time)

Our Grand Opening welcomed neighbours, friends, and visitors of every background to celebrate Oxford's new spiritual home on Marsh Lane.

On Sunday, 21 June 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00, Oxford Hindu Mandir & Community Centre opened its doors to the public—a joyous day for the whole community after years of dedication by volunteers and supporters.

The celebrations began on the Green with Dhol and Bhangra, followed by a Kalash Yatra procession to the temple. The opening ceremony included the lighting of the Diya, prayers welcoming the deities, and welcomes from invited dignitaries and community leaders. Inside the Mandir, dance, speeches, bhajans, and aarti marked the heart of the day, with community bhajans continuing through the afternoon until the closing aarti.

Whether you had supported the project from the beginning or were visiting for the first time, everyone was warmly invited to share in this sacred and joyful occasion—all backgrounds welcome, free to attend.

Oxford Hindu Mandir & Community Centre is at Court Farm Place, Marsh Lane, Headington, Oxford OX3 0NQ. For directions and parking guidance, see our How to get here page. If you wish to support the Mandir, you may make a donation.
