This pooja is online
The Sarva Pitru Amavasya pooja will be performed online with the guidance of Shastri Ji. You participate from your own home.
You do not need to know the procedure. Prepare the items below before you join — Shastri Ji will guide you step by step during the ceremony.

Language
The pooja will be conducted in both Hindi and English.
Shastri Ji will guide participants in Hindi and English so everyone can follow comfortably, whether or not you are familiar with the Sanskrit mantras.
Dakshina
A voluntary dakshina may be offered to Shastri Ji directly.
There is no fixed amount. If you wish to offer dakshina, please do so to Shastri Ji personally — it is entirely optional and given with devotion.
Prepare a small pooja space
Choose a clean, quiet corner of your home. Cover a small choki or table with a white or light-coloured cloth, place your ancestors’ photograph on it, and sit facing that arrangement.
You will need:
- A small choki (low stool) or table
- A white or light-coloured cloth
- A photograph of your ancestors
- A small plate
- 1 supari (betel nut)
Do not worry about arranging everything perfectly. Shastri Ji will guide you during the online pooja step by step.
Items required for the pooja
Keep these items ready next to you before the online pooja starts.
Puja plate
- Black sesame seeds (kala til)
- Jav / barley
- Chandan (sandalwood)
- Flowers
- Supari
- Rice (akshat)
Water & vessels
- 1 copper kalash with clean water
- 1 small steel bowl with water
- 1 spoon
Other pooja items
- Panchamrut
- Darbh / Kusha grass
- Janeu / Upavit
- Diya
- Tea towels, napkins or tissues
What to do before joining
- 1Choose a clean, quiet area where you will not be disturbed.
- 2Cover a small choki or table with a white or light-coloured cloth.
- 3Place your ancestors’ photograph on the choki/table.
- 4Prepare the puja plate with all the required items.
- 5Fill the copper kalash with clean water.
- 6Fill the small steel bowl with water and keep the spoon beside it.
- 7Keep Panchamrut, Darbh/Kusha, Janeu/Upavit and Diya ready.
- 8Keep tea towels, napkins or tissues nearby.
- 9Keep everything within easy reach before joining.
During the online pooja
Shastri Ji conducts the pooja online and explains when to use each item. You do not need to perform the ritual in advance or follow it from a book or video.
Join Microsoft Teams meeting- Join the online pooja on time.
- Position your camera/device so you can comfortably see and hear Shastri Ji.
- Keep all your pooja items beside you.
- Follow Shastri Ji’s instructions at each stage.
- Take your time — do not rush ahead.
If you are unsure at any stage, wait for Shastri Ji’s instructions rather than proceeding on your own.

Prepare the required items beforehand, sit comfortably facing the pooja arrangement, and follow Shastri Ji’s instructions during the online Pitru Tarpan.
